DpRx Corporation was founded in 1988
by Computer Contractors, Inc., California. Its purpose was to
specialize in Drug Benefit online processing at a time when there was
only one main frame system.
The company completed a PBM system and delivered an online service for
FHP, Inc., a California Preferred Provider Organization. DpRx managed
FHP’s population of 500,000 lives resulting in 200,000+ transactions
per month.
This service saved over $140,000 per month of manual system
administrative expense for FHP. The company estimated that the online
controls reduced drug ingredient cost by at least 20% (USD$1 million
per month). These savings resulted from 90+% elimination of fraud,
abuse and over-utilization.
DpRx installed over ten systems for HMOs, PPOs, and PBMs in the 1990s.
The largest user managed their own system for a population of over
700,000.
These TeleCLAIM systems were developed with the most popular operating
system and programming languages. Each new client in this time span
added requirements and control ideas that were implemented for each
that resulted in a diverse and universal system.
DpRx adapted their system to accommodate the needs of Latin American
companies in 1997. Farmacia Ahumada, of Santiago, Chile, installed the
first Spanish-version TeleCLAIM system to provide local employers an
online, managed Drug Benefit program. The second Latin American system
was installed in 2001 to accommodate the special needs of a system
successfully managing Capitation programs for several Insurance firms
Today, DpRx has completed the development of a new system to replace
the earlier legacy TeleCLAIM system. The new system, called TeleCLAIM++,
was developed with 21st century system tools.
The system’s basic design was founded on existing Internet protocols
and system tools. The primary premise of TeleCLAIM++ is to perform at
maximum efficiency in the Internet environment for a lower operating
expense with improved security. Such a system is a major breakthrough
in application transparency. The Internet allows instant availability
of current status to all parties with virtual elimination of
traditional lagging paper reports well after the fact.
DpRx believes that the Internet has revolutionized all world business
activity. Real time processing is now the norm. So pervasive is the
Internet’s impact on the marketplace that the preponderance of
computer and software development is dedicated to the Internet’s
needs.
The era of static computer systems is rapidly diminishing whereby
instantaneous status of all business information and transactions are
becoming a common and universal requirement.
